Hi, I’ve written this new article about what is Spyware, I’ll be adding another article soon about how to remove and prevent spyware/adware but for now I thought I’d start with a definition of what Spyware actually is…

What is Spyware

By Jason Roddick

So, you’ve bought a new computer and you’re all excited about the entire thing. Just thinking about the free games and music that you can download starts giving you goosebumps, in a nice way of course. Well, we’ve all been there and it feels pretty good. But as soon you start downloading some games or even music for that matter, you see an annoying advertisements popping out of nowhere on your screen and the moment you try to close it, it directs you to a different website that you never intended to visit in the first place. You may put forward a debate by stressing on the fact that this problem is due to the presence of adwares. Well, agreed, but spywares are greatly responsible for installing adwares on your computer without you having the slightest clue about it. Even an adware can be responsible for installing a spyware for that matter.

What exactly is a spyware and how does it work or “destroy your computer” would be a better phrase to use in this respect. Just as the name suggests, a spyware is nothing but a software that spies on the user’s activities on his computer in a very careful and systematic way. The reason why we call it dangerous is because, the user is not aware that the “software” that he is about to install is nothing but a spyware in disguise. It is adept at threatening the user’s computer by taking partial control over the computer which may then result to lost of important user data, etc.

The spyware danger can also take a undesired turn since the spyware can be programmed to dig in deep to the user’s personal information such as his address, contact number, passwords to his email account and perhaps the most threatening aspect of them all, password to the user’s online bank accounts. This was exactly what spywares were made to do and they do it quite effectively and in a very sneaky way, as you might have already guessed it. Some of the spywares are known to automatically change the computer settings thereby even affecting the computer speed and in some cases, affecting the computer’s Internet connection.

One of most alarming facts about spywares is that the user does not even sense the spyware presence until it is too late, for the computer that is. Therefore, you can easily make out that spywares are installed with obtaining the user’s consent. Besides, which computer user would even allow any spyware to be installed in his computer, unless he has a death wish for a computer.

However, one thing that you have to remember is that not all softwares that monitor the user’s activity are all that dangerous. There are many companies that keep track of their employee’s browsing activities but that definitely doesn’t mean that the company is using spywares. Spywares are designed and programmed in such a way that it actually becomes difficult to get rid of the programs that the spyware might have installed in your computer without the user’s consent. The way the spyware works, is really systematic and that is the scary part. Many spywares engage in key logging, i.e., recording the key strokes of the user which then allows the spyware creator to gain access to the user’s password, engage himself into spamming in the user’s email accounts, etc.

A spyware does not only come in the form of softwares and other programs, they also come as hardware devices that can be attached to the user’s computer. These devices help the spyware creator to gain access to the user’s computer and use the system just as the user would do in any case. Thankfully, there are many companies out there that cater to the computer users by offering anti spywares which helps the user to get rid of any spywares off of his computer. Some of these anti spywares would include names like CounterSpy, Spy Doctor, etc.

Hi Guys,

Welcome to my Registry Repair Tips and Spyware and Adware Fixes blog.

I set this up because there are a lot of people online and even friends of mine who have a lot of issues with these things and thought that it would make an interesting topic to blog and help others out with.

I’ve written this first article below about Registry Repair Tips, enjoy!…

Registry Repair Tips

By Jason Roddick

Is your computer taking a lot more than the normal time to reboot and execute software programs installed on your computer? Have things gone so bad that it often hangs without warning and shows of its dreaded blue screen? Well, if any of these is true, then it’s recommended that you get an effective registry cleaner software system installed on your computer as soon as possible. You need to do this because in most cases these symptoms are a result of unwanted entries in your computer’s registry, which clog the whole system, making it slow and susceptible to constant hang-ups. The point to remember is that you just cannot stop the clogging because it happens naturally overtime as you keep installing and uninstalling software programs on your computer. So, basically you are left with no other option but to undertake registry repair initiatives that might bring back your computer system to its normal performance levels. Here are some registry repair tips that will help you in your initiatives.

Avoid editing the registry manually

You may have the natural inclination to do things on your own, but until and unless you are technically proficient, I will never recommend that you perform the registry tweak and edits on your own. The registry is basically a vast database of all the settings and software components installed on your computer system and as such tweaking with it can have disastrous consequences, especially when you are not quite sure as to what you are doing exactly. Even a single mistake can easily corrupt the installed software components and render your system unusable. It would be better if you leave it to the experts who will suggest you the most appropriate registry repair software for your computer.

Always backup your registry

However, if you still decide to do it all on your own, I would recommend that you first create a backup of your registry. If you are using Windows XP operating system, you can do this by clicking on Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. When you do this, a screen will be displayed having two options, namely “Restore my computer to an earlier time” and “Create a restore point”. If you have not already created a restore point, select this option and follow the instructions. After the restore point is created, you can start with your registry tweak and edits without any worries because if anything goes wrong then, you can always restore your system to its earlier configuration.

Use registry patches for better results

You may learn a few interesting things while editing the registry manually, but if you are not doing it for fun, I would recommend that you opt for registry patches which are meant for performing specific tweaks and edits in the registry. For example, if one of your installations have gotten corrupted and has slowed down your system, you can search the Internet for a registry patch that takes care of the problem automatically. Registry patches are normal text files with a .REG extension. For using these patches, you just have to open the windows Registry Editor, click on the FILE/IMPORT and follow the instructions.

It is always better to opt for a registry cleaner

The above tips will certainly help you in your registry repair initiatives, but if you do not want to take unwanted risks, it’s recommended that you just opt for a registry repair software system. These are designed and developed by experts and you can rest assured that they will boost the overall performance of your computer system and might even make it better than the original. So the final word is that if you are not trying to make a career in registry repair, it’s recommended that you leave your instincts behind and instead opt for an effective registry repair.
